Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cancellation policy?
Life happens, and sometimes, there may be a need for you to reschedule or cancel your session. If you are unable to make it to your appointment for any reason and you need to reschedule, please reach out via phone or email as soon as possible. To avoid late cancellation charges, please provide at least 24-hours notice or more when canceling or rescheduling. No-shows or sessions canceled or changed within 24 hours or less of the scheduled time for any reason may result in being charged the full rate for that session.
Payment for therapy
Sessions are $150 per 50-minute session. Payment is due at the time of session via cash, check, debit card, credit card, HSA, or FSA. If finances are a barrier to your ability to access services, please ask about my reduced-fee options. I deeply value our work together, as well as ensuring that finances are not a hindrance to you engaging in counseling. Fee adjustments may occur periodically as my practice grows and needs shift. Clients are always welcome to reach out with questions or concerns.
Can I use my insurance to cover session costs?
All services are out-of-network and clients are responsible for paying out-of-pocket for services rendered at the time of service. If you would like to use your insurance benefits or if another third party will be covering the costs of counseling, you certainly can do so. Upon request, your counselor can provide a superbill, which you will then be able to provide to your insurance directly, along with any other required paperwork needed for reimbursement. A release of information may be requested for any other third party paying for your services.
You may also consider checking out Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits! Here's how it works:
1. Sign up for a free account on Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/UeZDc9yPWJB3bCVLV7w3
2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.
3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance! Please note that Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies. It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Fees are determined based on the therapist’s experience, training, and the needs of the practice. While fees may change periodically, clients will be given advance notice regarding any increases in rates. Fee adjustments are not made retroactively and may differ based on when a client begins therapy or their financial need at the time of intake. If your financial circumstances change, please don’t hesitate to bring that into the conversation.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.
